Axes

I am drawn to the paradox of axe as an object, a tool that embodies both the power to break and the ability to build.  My work with these custom axes- the engravings, paintings and custom carved handles laminated from various exotic woods- reflects this duality, capturing the delicate balance between tearing down and constructing something anew.  

Each piece speaks to the raw energy required to shape our surroundings and the craftsmanship needed to create something everlasting.  Through these works, I explore the tension between the force and the finesse, destruction and creation, and how these opposing forces can shape our world.
